Delwyn sitting on the couch reading a book. She looks over to the mantle clock to see what time it is, wondering when Liam would be getting back.
A limo pulls up in front of Delwyn's house and stops. A chauffeur gets out and goes to her front door and rings the doorbell. He has a long red box with a gold bow on it in his hand.
Delwyn closes the book and drops onto the coffee table as she gets up. She goes to the door and opens it.
Are you Miss Delwyn Caernarfon?" The chauffeur asks.
[Delwyn] Yes? Can I help you?
The chauffeur hands the box to her.
Delwyn takes the box from the man.
The chauffeur waits for her to open the box.
Delwyn pulls the ribbon off and opens the box. She pushes the tissue paper away and sees a dozen long stem roses. She picks up the card inside and reads it.
The chauffeur waits silently as she reads the card.
Delwyn looks at the gentleman. "It says I'm supposed to go with you." She tucks the card back into the box.
The chauffeur nods politely and says, "Yes Ma'am."
The chauffeur waits for her reply.
[Delwyn] Give me a couple of minutes. I'll put these in a vase.
He nods with a formal smile and says, "Yes Ma'am."
Delwyn walks away and goes to the kitchen. She grabs a vase out of one of the cupboards and fills it with water. She quickly puts the roses into it. She quickly goes to the bedroom and quickly changes into a black dress with a black sweater. She pulls her hair back quickly and then goes back to the front door. "I'm ready."
The chauffeur steps aside so she can exit her house and lock the door . While she is locking up he walks to the limo and opens the back door and stands holding it open.
Delwyn quickly locks the door and goes to the limo and gets in.
The chauffeur closes the door and goes around to the driver's side, gets in and starts the engine. The privacy window is up between the front and back of the limo, so he keys the intercom and says, "There's a glass of champaign in the ice box in front of you."
Delwyn leans forward and opens the ice chest. She takes the glass of champagne out and takes a sip.
The chauffeur pulls away from the curb and heads out.
After a few minutes of driving the limo slows and eventually stops in a secluded parking area above the shoreline. The chauffeur gets out, goes around and opens the door for Delwyn. "If you would follow me, please, Ma'am?" He says and holds out his hand to help her out of the limo.
Delwyn puts the glass in a holder and takes the man's hand and gets out of the limo.
The chauffeur closes the limo door and extends his elbow gallantly for her to take, then leads her around the rear of the limo and to a small pebbled pathway that leads to a private and secluded beach below.
The chauffeur escorts Delwyn to within 3 or 4 feet from the end of the pebbled path and stops. He removes her hand from his arm and says in a very formal tone of voice, "You are to go around that rock face," and he points out onto the beach to a large mountain of granite that extends almost to the edge of the water, "over there." With that he backs away a few steps then turns and heads back up the pathway.
Delwyn looks at where she is supposed to go for a moment. She pulls off the heels and picks them up and carries them with her. Her walk becomes a bit more comfortable when she hits sand. She makes her way to the large granite rock.
On the other side of the rock face is a dining table set for two. It is covered with a white linen table cloth and has a double candelabra with two white tapers that are lit.
Delwyn stops in her tracks seeing the set. She walks toward it.
From somewhere, seemingly almost coming from within the rock itself, soft music wafts in the oh so gentle evening breeze.
From out of nowhere an man dressed in black slacks and a white waiter's jacket appears and walks up to Wyn. He pulls out one of the chairs and holds it for her to sit in.
Delwyn sits down in the chair and gives the man a thank you.
Delwyn drops her heels into the sand next to her.
The waiter bows slightly and disappears in an opening between the rock and the cliff. From around the rock where Wyn had come appears Liam dressed in an elegant tuxedo, his log hair pulled back in a ponytail. He is carrying a single long stem red rosebud which he hands to Wyn when he gets to the table.
LIAM leans down and takes her hand and gently kisses the back of her hand and says with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes, "Happy Valentines Day pretty lady."
Delwyn looks up at Liam with a smile. "Happy Valentine's Day, love."
[Delwyn] You worked hard at this. It's lovely.
LIAM takes the seat across from her. To her right is the Pacific Ocean and the sun is beginning to disappear into the horizon. The sky is filled with vivid oranges, reds, yellows and lavenders.
The waiter appears again carrying a large tray. Two more waiters are following him, also carrying trays. Each item on the trays is covered with silver domes. The waiter steps up and opens a serving stand and sets it near the table, placing his tray on it. The other two follow suit. All three simultaneously lift the dome off of the serving dishes to expose Chateau Breand for two, assorted vegetables and potatoes augratin. The three men disappear "into the rock".
The head waiter reappears with a wine bucket filled covered with a white linen napkin which he removes after he has set the bucket down, exposing a bottle of champaign resting in a bed of ice.
LIAM nods at the waiter who disappears. Liam lifts out the bottle and pours champaign into both glasses.
LIAM raises his glass and holds it up in a toast.
Delwyn picks up her glass and looks at him.
[LIAM] The most perfect rose, the most breath taking sunset, and the most precious of diamonds pale in comparison to your beauty. May you always look upon me as you are right now...seeing past my flaws. You bring out the best in me, Delwyn. And I love you for it.
LIAM clinks the brim of his glass against hers and takes a sip then sets his glass down and reaches into his jacket pocket.
LIAM produces a red velvet box about 8" long and hands it to her.
Delwyn takes a sip of champagne and then puts the glass down. She takes the box and opens it. Her eyes widen. "Liam...it's beautiful!" She pulls the necklace out of the case.
LIAM smiles proudly.
[LIAM] Not as beautiful as you, my dear.
Delwyn feels a blush come to her cheeks as she looks back at him. "Thank you."
[LIAM] I'm glad you like it.
LIAM says with a smile.
Delwyn places the necklace back in the case so she doesn't lose it. She looks at him. "I can't believe you were able to do all this."
[LIAM] Hungry?
Delwyn nods. "Yes."
LIAM picks up her plate and begins dishing up a little of each of the items on the trays then sets her plate back down in front of her and begins dishing up his own. As he dishes up the food he says, "I chose this menu in celebration of our first date."
Delwyn a smile blooms across her lips. "I'm surprised you remembered."
LIAM looks at her in shock.
[LIAM] Why does that surprise you?
[Delwyn] Because most men I've been with wouldn't have remembered a detail like that.
LIAM chuckles.
[LIAM] You must know some real idiots, then. It isn't like it's been a century since it happened. Besides....I never forget the important things that happen in my life.
Delwyn grabs the napkin and puts it in her lap. She gives a bit of a chuckle. "I've known a few idiots in my day."
LIAM sets his fork down on his plate and leans forward, taking her hand.
[LIAM] I have not been able to get you out of my mind since I met you in front of that coffee house. So there's no way I could forget our first date.
LIAM smiles as he says, "just the fact that you said yes when i asked you out is momentous"
Delwyn gives his hand a gentle squeeze. "I'm glad I said yes. I would have missed out on quite a bit if I said no."
LIAM rolls his eyes.
[LIAM] Oh, yeah. It's been loads of fun being with me. I drag you to Africa to chase down some ass hole immortal, then drag you back home and stick you right in the middle of a nightmare with my daughter. Sounds like a great time.
[Delwyn] I'm not talking about the things that are happening around us. I'm just talking about us. I would have missed out on a wonderful man.
LIAM blushes slightly at her compliment.
LIAM is embarrassed by the compliment and unsure how to respond so he simply picks his fork back up and begins eating.
Delwyn notices the blush. She picks up her fork as well and begins to eat. It tasted wonderful. "Did you get this from the same restaurant as well?"
[LIAM] Yes.
LIAM says without looking up. He's not a man used to compliments.
Delwyn smiles. "You've done a wonderful job on planning this out, Liam. I'm flattered."
LIAM finally looks up at her and says, "You deserve it. And more. Much more. You have been not only been a trooper through all of this, but you have helped me get through it."
[Delwyn] It's what I'm here for.
LIAM shakes his head and says, "You are amazing. Incredible."
Delwyn blushes. "Keep saying that, Liam, and I'll get a big head."
LIAM raise her hand up, leans forward and kiss it.
[LIAM] I hope to be able to tell you how incredible you are for several more centuries.
Delwyn gives him a smile, but she is a bit unnerved by that statement.
LIAM lets go of her hand and returns to eating.
Delwyn begins eating again.
LIAM After several minutes Liam finishes eating and folds his napkin over his empty plate. He sits back in his chair and looks at the full moon that is now hovering over the ocean.
Delwyn pushes her plate away from her. She had eaten most of what was dished out on her plate. Her gaze travels to the moon. "She's beautiful, isn't she?"
LIAM doesn't reply. His gaze has turned to Wyn and he has become fascinated by the way the moonlight plays on her face.
Delwyn sits back in her seat with a contented sigh. She turns her gaze away from the moon and looks at Liam.
The head waiter appears and takes away their dishes. As he heads away from them a man in a black tuxedo appears carrying a violin and begins to play a soft waltz. Liam gets up, walks over to Wyn and holds out his hand to her.
[LIAM] May I have this dance, pretty lady?
Delwyn gives him a smile as she places her hand in his. "Of course, sir."
Delwyn is amazed that Liam was detailed in his plan. She had to say she couldn't have planned it any better.
LIAM raises her hand as she gets to her feet and escorts her a few feet away from the table and whirls her into his arms. He begins gracefully waltzing her around in a small circle in the sand...as if it were a grand ballroom dance floor.
Delwyn smirks. "A good dancer too...what more can a girl ask for?" She whispers playfully.
[LIAM] It's easy when you're floating on cloud 9.
LIAM whispers back.
Delwyn smiles, shaking her head. "What did I do to deserve you?" She speaks softly.
When the music comes to an end, Liam finishes the waltz by dipping Wyn backwards over his arm. As he holds her in that position he leans down and places a gentle kiss on her lips.
LIAM lifts her back up and escorts her back to the table. The violinist leaves and the head waiter reappears and walks up to the table. "Would Mademoiselle care for some dessert this evening?" He asks.
Delwyn looks at the waiter. She was full, but a few bites of dessert wouldn't hurt. "Yes, please."
The waiter disappears and reappears shortly along with an assistant who is carrying a tray stand. They set the stand up and place a tray with a large silver "urn" on it onto the stand. The head waiter produces a butane "match" form his jacket pocket and ignites it, placing it just inside the rim of the "urn" which bursts into flames. He allows the flames to burn for only a few seconds then douses them by placing a domed lid over the "urn". He removes the lid and his assistant hands him a medium sized dessert bowl and he dishes up a rich helping of Cherries Jubilee and hands the dish to his assistant who, in turn, hands the waiter another empty dish and then sets the filled one in front of Wyn. The head waiter fills the other dish and sets it in front of Liam and both men disappear.
Delwyn looks at the dessert in front of her. She wouldn't be able to eat half of it. She picks up a spoon and takes a bite.
Delwyn looks at Liam. "This is wonderful."
[LIAM] I wasn't sure if you like Cherries Jubilee or not...but Marcelle assured me that women love his because of the chocolate sauce which is something he created himself.
Delwyn chuckles. "Can't go wrong with chocolate."
LIAM chuckles.
[LIAM] That's what Marcelle said.
[Delwyn] Then, the man knows women.
Delwyn takes a couple more bites before she sets it aside. If she ate anymore, she was afraid she was going to burst.
[LIAM] He's a French Chef. I'm sure he does.
LIAM focuses his attention on his dessert for a few minutes then places his spoon on the saucer under the dish and pushes it toward the center of the table and sits back in his chair watching Wyn.
Delwyn grabs her glass of champagne and takes a sip. She looks over at Liam. "Thank you so much, Liam. It's been a while since I celebrated Valentine's Day."
[LIAM] You are more tan welcome, my dear. It's been awhile since I had a Valentine to celebrate it with.
LIAM smiles lovingly at her.
Delwyn smiles and blushes. She places her empty champagne flute on the table . She gets up and walks over to Liam and takes a seat on his lap. She wraps her arms around his neck. She whispers, "Thank you isn't enough for what you've done tonight."
LIAM looks up at her a twinkle in his eyes and says, "did you have anything in mind?"
Delwyn smirks. "Maybe..."
Delwyn glances in the direction that the waiters went. "You may want to tell the waiters to go on a long walk."
LIAM raises an eyebrow. "Is that right?" He says. He places his arm under her knees and stands up with her in his arms. He carries her away from the table and around another large rock face where another candelabra lights a small area of beach protected on two sides by granite boulders and the cliff on another. In the center of the small area lit by candle light and the full moon is a futon like mattress spread out on the sand and covered by satin sheets. Liam kneels down and gently places Wyn on the "bed".
Delwyn looks up at him. "Ok, you *really* did think of everything."
LIAM lays her back against the satin covered pillows and proceeds to make gentle and passionate love to her under the full moon.
